The first practical night of the season was studio style setups for people photographs. Our model for the evening was Mina Von Vixen. Mina’s vintage style enabled the first set to be classic Hollywood style two-point lighting. One key light about 45° from the front and 45°up. The second light was a kicker directly opposite the key.
The lighting used was a pair of Fresnel lensed Lupo HMI continuous lights. The Fresnel lens gives the lighting the same quality as those classic monochrome images from the golden era.
With their being continuous lights people were able to use auto settings. However, a metered reading for manual settings was also given. Not needing a flash trigger meant that more than one person could be taking photographs at any one time. At times it resembled a pap pack, albeit very calm and respectful.
The second setup was a one light beauty setup of a Hensel Beauty dish powered by a Hensel Integra Pro flash head. For fill a ProFoto reflector was held in place by a Lastolite bracket.
